AI image tools make it look easy in demos, then your first ten attempts come out muddy, off-brand, or just weird. Here are the five mistakes almost everyone makes early on, and the quick fix for each.
Mistake 1: Prompts that are too short
“A coffee shop” gives the model almost nothing to work with, so it defaults to the most generic, average version possible. Fix: describe the subject, setting, lighting, angle, and mood — five specifics beats one vague sentence every time.
Mistake 2: Rewriting the whole prompt every attempt
When an image is close but not right, most beginners scrap the prompt and start over — losing what was already working. Fix: change one variable at a time (just the lighting, just the angle) so you can tell what actually caused the improvement.
Mistake 3: Expecting perfect text in the image
Logos, precise slogans, and exact text still trip up most AI image tools. Fix: generate the background or concept with AI, then add exact text and logos yourself in a design tool afterward.
Mistake 4: No consistent style across a set
If you generate five images for one project with five completely different prompts, they won’t look like they belong together. Fix: write your style keywords (lighting, color palette, composition) once, and reuse that exact language in every prompt for the set.
Mistake 5: Only generating one option
The first result is rarely the best one. Fix: generate 3–4 variations per concept before judging the tool — you’re looking for the best of a batch, not a single lucky roll.
Fix these five and your results will jump dramatically. For the full walkthrough, see our AI Image Generation guide.
